Chair tutorial

I found a cool tutorial on this site Design Sponge My first thought was to share it with all  of my miniature friends. Lovers of miniature, France and Champagne of course. Now we have one more reason to drink more of  the golden liquid;) The tutorial is made by Amy Merric. Enjoy:)

Below here you will see my attempt using the Champagne corks. I had a party here in my house on Friday and people kindly gave me the wire parts. Of course with a funny expression..”ehI heard that you collected these..!?” I have adapted the tutorial a bit to suit my taste. I used the lower part only and took a new part of wire that I bended and glued down to the seat for the back. The middle back part is made by cardboard and glued on also. Spray painted and aged to look like rust.  Lavender French garden. Smells nice.

The soap is also made by me by the way. That is another hobby of mine. Making cold processed soaps. So much better than the store bought, but that is another story. Hope you like my chairs, and do try it. It was very fun.

  1. I love those! Perfect for a little garden! What do you use to "age" them? I'm still learning how to "shabby chic" things and I really like how your chairs turned out.

  2. Nice aging.

A little more wire work under the chair for the bracing for the legs would be easy to add in since you are already adding more wire. It was done in different ways on various chairs. Easy to find photos of ice cream parlor chairs on the internet.

  3. They are perfect!!! Now I just need to get some Champange (I have never tried it :-), or find someone who does!! Do they only come on Champagne? I would also like to know how you "aged" them.
    Thanks,

  13. Thanks I am glad you liked them:) I used antique white spray paint. Let that dry and then I used a toothpick and dabbed some clear color 1322 Humbrol paint on various places. Let that dry. On top of that I took some black acrylic paint on, also with a toothpick. Easy piesy;)
One could of course make them even better. This is just a starting point. Would love to see other ideas as well:)
Synnøve. The chair is the same size as some other cafe chairs I have have. So it is not too bad in scale either.

  14. Thanks, Christel! I have been saving these things for years with the thought that I would make such chairs. You have now both shamed and inspired me to get them out and do something creative with them. I like the additions you made to yours and the antiquing is great.

  18. Hi Christel I knew already the tutorial and I confess didn´t like very much, but now I changed my mind, your chairs are gracious and very well done, the technique you employed was very well succeeded.

  30. I don't know whether you know this or not, but there is an annual contest for miniature chairs made out of the wire and cork from champagne bottles.

Here's a link I found, don't know about this year though.

    http://www.vinography.com/archives/2009/02/winners_of_the_dwr_champagne_c.html

If anyone wants the cages, my husband drinks a certain beer that comes with a cage, I believe it's quite similar to the champagne bottle, feel free to contact me for some, as we throw them in the metal recycling bin.

Christel, if it's not okay that I post this on your blog, just delete my post. :)

  31. Dale..that is so funny I diden't know about this at all. I love it:)
Why dont you post some pictures of the beer metal parts on your blog? I would love to see them:)
